“What does it Take to Win as a 31 Club Member? “ - Daryle Lambert

Michigan State - Thanks to www.bleacherreport.com

I have been watching basketball all weekend and I think I have learned some lessons for us about being a winner. I have seen teams that were supposed to win –“Long Time Dealers” – but didn't. I have friends who think that because they have been in this business for so long the treasures will come to them. They aren't necessarily right. I have seen underdogs like Michigan State’s boys basketball team and Louisville's girls teams come from behind when no one thought they could. You know maybe only the team thought they were winners and that was enough.

How do I apply this to what we want to accomplish as members of the 31 Club? I have told people for almost two years now that this Club is for underdogs. Yes we want everyone to join us, however, not all will see what we have in mind to do together. But we will win together because we think we can. Remember Jesus and his followers were underdogs but what they did has lasted for over 2000 years. It is just the beginning and it will last for eternity.

So when you are tired and think that your energy is all used up, be sure to attend one more garage or house sale. When your eyes are tired of reading, look through one more book. Post those extra twenty cards that list what you are looking to buy in those stores that you missed last week. Tell people about your business no matter where you are. All these things are what underdogs do. This is the game we're in and it is just like basketball when some player let it all hang out by diving on the floor or forcing themselves to jump one more time when they think their legs will no longer move.

But when you’re one of the last standing, all the extra work will have been well worth it. The great thing about going that extra mile is that it gives others hope that they can also succeed. I receive letter after letter from people saying how the stories about our members’ success has encouraged them to continue searching for their treasures.

One find, such as a painting or special piece of pottery, can change your whole year. Sally's painting, little Jim's painting, my Grueby vase and Frederick Morgan painting, Cecil's Derby Glass and travel posters, Warner's Lotton Bowl and over 50 other Charles Lotton pieces, on we go. I personally won't feel like we are successful until several of you have completed the Million Dollar Race. Yes, most of the world would say that we are the underdogs and our goals are beyond our reach but they just don't understand us do they. This all started when a young lady took her $100 and bought several boxes of phonograph needles and doubled her money several times. She knew that no one could call her an underdog again.
